The Janet L. Richardson Memeorial Scholarship

Janet L. Richardson Charleston SC native and the mother of 4 amazing children, Danielle, Micheal, Christian and Tommy was an outstanding community servant.

She was a pre-school teacher and summer camp counselor. She enjoyed reading and painting. She loved attending church and being a part of the gospel choir. Her passion of being a faithful servant was spending her time helping families on the Eastside of Charleston through the 1980's.

She started a youth club called The Eastside Blue Jay's for boys and became a girl scout troop leader. All of the children in her housing area loved spending time with her doing arts and craft and participating in her Spelling Bee contests.

June 18, 1991, her life suddenly ended by domestic violence. Ms. Janet's legacy work continued through the community by her co-advocates.  Once her amazing children became adults, they picked up the crown of being community servants and continued the work that their mother set before them. Now her act of kindness is seen in both South and North Carolina.

Ms. Janet loved education and graduated from Pen Forster with an accounting Degree, in honor of her memory Goodbye Abuse Inc, will be honoring 2 Survivors with Scholarships to continue the college degree. The awards will be given out at the Taste of Peace, Love and Happiness Gala in October of each year.
